W. W. Gay Mechanical Contractor, Inc. is looking for a Sheet Metal Helper for our Fabrication Shop. Specific responsibilities for the position include the following:
Position Summary:
The Sheetmetal and Insulation Helper is a developmental role designed for individuals seeking to gain practical experience and technical skills in field operations. As a Helper, you will work under the supervision of experienced field professionals to learn the technical aspects of the job, including equipment operation, tool and material identification, and safety protocols.
Essential Functions:
• Follow the direction of the Tradesman.
• Learn the basics: tools and materials.
• Assist Mechanic by retrieving the tools and materials they need.
Additional Job-Related Duties:
• Comply with federal and state law, regulations, and all Company rules.
• Participate in online and in-person training and other educational opportunities to develop knowledge, skills, and abilities.
• Any other job-related activities requested by immediate supervisor.
Physical Requirements:
• This position requires the performance of moderate to heavy physical work: Helper may be required to lift up to I00lbs occasionally, up to 501bs frequently, up to 201bs constantly, and perform activities such as bending, stooping, kneeling, crouching, climbing, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, and grasping for up to five (5) hours without sitting.
• The position may also involve some repetitive motions of the hands, wrists, and elbows.
Education/Experience Requirements:
• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Minimum of one (I) year of experience/education in Construction or other technical field preferred.
• Valid driving record
Working Conditions:
• This position is normally performed in a jobsite work environment which does subject the employee to the elements. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud, and hearing protection may be required under certain conditions.
• This position may require a flexible schedule, periodic overtime, and overnight travel as needed.
