Position Summary: We are looking to hire a detail-oriented HVAC technician / Boiler Technician. This position is responsible for the troubleshooting, repairing and the maintenance of commercial/low pressure and high-pressure boilers and all related boiler equipment. The technician must be able to adjust and install various commercial temperature controls and devices and have knowledge of electrical circuits and troubleshooting, in addition, fire up and adjust burners for maximum efficiency. The position includes great benefits and a competitive salary.
Candidate must have direct hands-on experience and working knowledge in troubleshooting steam, hot water boilers, burners (gas & oil combustion), associated control systems, electrical combustion, heat pumps and associated piping systems.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Troubleshoot & repair electrical wiring, relay logic, safety circuits, electronic boards for boilers and combustion failures
- Start-up & commission new replacement boiler systems including expansion tanks, pumps etc.
- Calibrate and adjust burner controls to obtain optimal boiler/burner performance
- Experience servicing and maintaining Gas & Oil Burners
- Experience servicing and maintaining Atmospheric, Condensing and Scotch Marine Fire Tube Boilers
- External/Internal boiler inspections.
- Boiler cleanings.
- Preventative maintenance
- Interpret electrical schematics, mechanical drawings, blueprints and layouts
- Perform holistic diagnostic operations to determine opportunities to improve heating system performance
- Communicate affectingly with job site personnel, maintenance crews, property managers
- Complete paperwork/documentation on the work performed (time, material used and recommendations)
- Work safely and use safety equipment; be familiar with and adhere to EPA and OSHA policies
Specific Knowledge, Skills, License, Certifications:
- Understanding of advanced principles of air conditioning, refrigeration, and heating.
- Working knowledge of boiler systems and hydronics.
- Proficient in balancing air and water systems in line with HVAC protocols.
- Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal skills.
- Proficient in reading schematics and work plans.
- A working knowledge of building automation systems.
- Ability to work after hours, over weekends and on public holidays with short or no notice.
- Ability to work in confined spaces.
- EPA license.
- Must possess a Valid and unblemished Driver’s License and Driving Record.
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma, GED or suitable equivalent.
- Willingess to continue education in HVAC field.
- Manufacturer Specific Certifications are a plus, Company is willing to assist with certifications on additional product lines.
- Factory Trainings on specialized or custom HVAC equipment are a plus.
- 5+ years commercial boiler field experience
- At least 2 years' experience with boiler manufactures including Cleaver-Brooks, Lochinvar, Hurst, Patterson Kelley etc
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods of standing and bending down.
- Must be able to lift to 50 pounds at times.
- Must be able and willing to climb ladders.
