Position Summary:
The Sheetmetal and Insulation Tradesman II is a developmental role designed for individuals seeking to gain
practical experience and technical skills in HVAC. As a Tradesman, you will work under the supervision of
experienced field professionals to learn the technical aspects of the job, including equipment operation, tool
and material identification, and safety protocols.
Essential Functions:
- Safety – Lead and train Helpers and Apprentices.
- Read prints, have knowledge of how HVAC systems operate.
- Communicate with Foreman on productions, any issues, and needed material.
- Complete a quality job in a safe and timely manner.
- Keep areas picked up daily.
- Material kept covered and protected.
- Lock up ladders and tools daily.
Additional Job-Related Duties:
- Read blueprints, including the specs, layout hangers, and hole penetrations.
- Know the different types of dampers we use and why.
- Comply with federal and state law, regulations, and all Company rules.
- Participate in online and in-person training and other educational opportunities to develop knowledge, skills, and abilities.
- Any other job-related activities requested by immediate supervisor.
Education/Experience Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Minimum of two (two) years of experience/education in HVAC, Construction or other technical field preferred.
Physical Requirements:
- This position requires the performance of moderate to heavy physical work: Tradesman may be required to lift up to 100lbs occasionally, up to 50lbs frequently, up to 20lbs constantly, and perform activities such as bending, stooping, kneeling, crouching, climbing, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, and grasping for up to five (5) hours without sitting.
- The position may also involve some repetitive motions of the hands, wrists, and elbows.
Working Conditions:
- This position is normally performed in a jobsite work environment which does subject the employee to the elements. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud, and hearing protection may be required under certain conditions.
- This position may require a flexible schedule, periodic overtime, and overnight travel as needed.
